Visitors – Welcome!

Peace and joy in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Please advise us of your visit and ask for a “First Time Visitor Bulletin” which briefly explains the communion service.  Please join our church family in the Parish Hall after the service for fellowship, drinks, and food!

Holy Communion:  If you have been confirmed by a Bishop in Apostolic Succession, you are invited to receive the Blessed Sacrament.  If not, but are a Baptized Christian, please come to the Altar Rail for a blessing (simply cross your arms over your chest when the Celebrant approaches.)  If you have questions, please speak to the clergy.

MALACHI  3:  10 – 6

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years. And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts. For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Synod Update:   Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to volunteer for our Synod in July.  We still need more volunteers to help though so come on and join the fun.  The sign up board is in the Parish Hall.   ALERT :  We need table decorators at the hotel Tuesday night.

Interlude in G                                                                                         Henry Smart

Postlude

March in G                                                                                               Henry Smart

Henry Stephen Cutler (1824-1902), while organist/choirmaster at Boston’s Church of the Advent and New York’s Trinity Church, began the first choirs of men and boys in the United States during the 1850’s. He is remembered for his 1872 tune All Saints New for the hymn “The Son of God Goes Forth to War” (#549 in The Hymnal 1940). His Andante is in the style of Mendelssohn, reflecting his German study during the mid-1840’s.

Henry Smart (1813-1879), organist at London’s St. Pancras New Church, is known for his 1867 hymn tune Regent Square (named for a Presbyterian Church in London), sung this morning as the Processional Hymn. In addition to being an organ designer, he composed service and concert music for organ, hymn tunes, anthems and songs.
