Visitors – Welcome! Peace and joy in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Please advise us of your visit and ask for a “First Time Visitor Bulletin” which briefly explains the communion service. Please join our church family in the Parish Hall after the service for fellowship, drinks, and food.
Holy Communion: If you have been confirmed by a Bishop in Apostolic Succession, you are invited to receive the Blessed Sacrament. If not, but are a Baptized Christian, please come to the Altar Rail for a blessing (simply cross your arms over your chest when the Celebrant approaches.) If you have questions, please speak to the clergy prior to the service.

Our Yard Sale will be taking place in early June. Sylvia Anderson has agreed to line baskets with pretty fabric for us to sell during this sale. If you have baskets that you no longer need, please bring them to the church ASAP so she will have time to work on them!!!

Today is the third Sunday of Lent, a penitential season of 40 days that began on Ash Wednesday. The Alleluia and the Gloria in Excelsis are omitted until Maundy Thursday during Holy Week. The name for this Sunday is the Latin term Oculi, from the Introit for today from Psalm 25:15: “Oculi mei semper ad Dominum.”
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), one of the greatest composers, was born 334 years ago on March 21st. His career spanned almost 50 years as organist and as a court and church musician. The prelude is an ornamented setting (c.1710) of the German Passion hymn from 1524, “O man, bewail thy grievous fall.” The offertory is a setting of a 1524 German hymn “By Adam’s case is quite corrupt” on the fall of man through Adam and redemption through Christ. It was written c.1708 as a fughetta with the melody stated in long notes in the soprano and imitated in the lower parts. The postlude is from Bach’s “Little” 8 Preludes and Fugues.
During Lent, we have been singing the Kyrie, Sanctus and Agnus Dei from the oldest musical setting of the liturgy of the Book of Common Prayer. Adapted from Gregorian chant, it was composed in 1549 by John Merbecke, organist at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
