Our Coffee Hour Needs Your Help:

We have a wonderful coffee hour tradition here at St. Michaels.  Everyone one enjoys the good food and fellowship that occurs each week after the 10:30 service.   It is an important family time for our church.   But that coffee hour takes work. Each week several people are needed to set up before, serve and then clean up after the coffee hour.  Plus we need the wonderful food so many people provide.  However, lately the same people have been doing the set up, serving and clean up and they are tired and need our help.  Each of us needs to step up and provide a little part if we want to continue this family tradition we all enjoy.

It has been suggested that we set up five teams (each team made up of four or five people, both men and women)  to act as kitchen hosts.  Each team will host one Sunday a month.  Team 1 will set up and clean up the first Sunday of each month. Team 2 will do the same each second Sunday of the month.  Team three each third week and the fourth team each fourth Sunday.   We will also need a team for those months which have a fifth Sunday in the month.  Each team will need a team leader who will remind and organize the team.  If someone has signed up for a week but finds they need to be absent one week they will work through the team leader to find a substitute for that week.

Of course we still will need our good cooks to provide the excellent home cooked foods plus the church treasury will continue to provide the kitchen staples (paper goods, coffee, chips clean up supplies etc.).

Will you help?   Will you sign up for one week a month?  You could be part of a weekly hosting team (come early, set up the table then after church set out the food and clean up after everyone is served) or once a  month bring lots of foods for the table (homemade or specially bought)and deliver them to the kitchen before church.

If you are willing to help please sign up in the parish hall on our sign up board.  If we all pitch in we will be able to continue this wonderful tradition which does so much to make us a church family by providing a time of good food and fellowship for us all.   Please help.

Note from Fr. Michael:  Working as part of a team helps to strengthen His Church, as we enjoy one another while serving the Lord.  This is a wonderful ministry for MEN & WOMEN.  “And let ours (us) also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they (we) be not unfruitful.” (Tit 3:14)  May God continue to bless St Michael’s through the good works of His people, through Jesus Christ.  M+

Communion Meditation on “Adoro te devote”                                  Larry Visser

Postlude

Pastorale                                                                             Christopher Uehlein

The prelude is from the “little eight” preludes and fugues that are attributed to the German Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).

The Gregorian chant “Adoro te devote” (Hymn 204) is a 13th century chant set to the Latin 13th century poem by St. Thomas Aquinas, a Roman Catholic theologian. Larry Visser (b.1962), organist/minister of music at LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church, Grand Rapids, MI, places the tune on a pedal flute with oscillating chords on string stops.

The soft postlude in a lilting pastoral style is by Christopher Moritz Uehlein (b.1931), a Benedictine monk formerly at Blue Cloud Abbey, Marvin, South Dakota.
